Can SNU members currently outside the university participate?
Yes. Faculty on sabbatical and students on leave of absence may also participate. SNU members who are currently abroad (e.g. exchange programs) are also eligible to participate.

If I am affiliated with an external institution/university but am currently at SNU as a visiting professor or exchange student, can I apply for the call?
You may not apply as the team representative. However, you may participate as a team member if the team is led by an eligible SNU member.

Can I only apply as an individual?
While individual submissions are highly encouraged, team submissions are also permitted.

Can faculty and students form a mixed team?
No. Faculty and researchers may only form teams with other faculty and researchers, and students may only form teams with other students.

Can I participate as part of a team with researchers or students affiliated with institutions outside of SNU?
Yes. However, the team leader must be an eligible SNU member. In addition, teams must be formed within the same track: faculty and researchers with faculty or researchers, and students with students.

There is no limit; however, small teams of up to three members are recommended.

Can the proposal be written in a foreign language?
Proposals may be submitted in Korean or English only.
If submitted in English, a Korean translation must also be provided. In this case, the proposal must not exceed 1,000 characters based on the Korean translation.

How will the proposals be reviewed?
They will be evaluated according to the review criteria outlined on the detailed information page. The evaluation will be conducted by a review committee led by the SNU Grand Quest Design Board.

It consists of distinguished SNU scholars who represent the university’s identity and academic standing.

When and where will the selected proposals be announced?
They will be announced on the SNU Grand Quest website on June 5 (Fri). An awards ceremony and exhibition will follow at the SNU Grand Quest Forum.

If selected, is participation in follow-up events such as SNU Grand Quest Forum required?
Participation is strongly encouraged unless there are unavoidable circumstances. Sharing your question and engaging in discussion with others is an important step toward advancing the Grand Quest.

The following programs are scheduled:
SNU Grand Quest Design Board Workshop (May), SNU Grand Quest Forum/Week (June), SNU Grand Quest Challenge (Call for Research Proposals) (Second half of the year).

(Faculty & Researcher Track) I transferred to an external institution after submitting my proposal. Am I still eligible to be selected and apply for follow-up research proposal?
If you were affiliated with SNU at the time of submission, your proposal remains eligible for selection.
For follow-up research proposal, you may participate only as part of a team led by the principal investigator (PI) affiliated with SNU. However, you cannot serve as the PI yourself.

Is there a limit on the number of submissions per person?
No, multiple submissions are allowed. Please feel free to submit any good questions you have.
